Dr David Sousa, Ophthalmologist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon
Dr. Sousa graduated from the Lisbon School of Medicine in 2013. He completed his Ophthalmology specialty training in Portugal, followed by Vitreoretinal fellowships in Manchester, United Kingdom and Melbourne, Australia.
Dr. Sousa currently works as a Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital, in Melbourne and consults at Northern Eye Consultants on a regular basis. He is also involved in multiple research projects at Centre for Eye Research Australia, including retinal imaging, artificial intelligence and innovative surgical devices.
Dr Sousa has authored numerous peer-reviewed research publications and is a regular speaker at national and international conferences. He obtained his PhD degree (Hons.) in April-2021, and continues to lecture in his alma mater, the University of Lisbon.
