Clinical Research and Transversal Areas to Science

The Clinical Research course offers a practical approach to clinical research. This Advanced course aims to provide students with knowledge of the main types of scientific studies, as well as guidance on selecting appropriate study designs in cases of causality, prognosis, diagnosis, and clinical trials.

Students will also develop skills in identifying the structure and critically evaluating abstracts and scientific articles.

  • Understand the techniques for writing and presenting the results of clinical studies;
  • Understand the structure and critically evaluate:
    • Diagnostic studies
    • Causality studies
    • Clinical trials
    • Prognostic studies
    • Systematic literature reviews

Target Students

PhD students from CAML and the Doctorate in Planetary Health Studies.

Holders of a Master’s degree or an equivalent legal qualification in any field of knowledge; holders of a Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent legal qualification with an academic or scientific curriculum of particular relevance. Applicants must have proficiency, both spoken and written, in the English language. Gender equality and inclusion will be taken into consideration. The selection of candidates will be based on the evaluation of the documentation submitted as part of the application process: Academic transcript detailing the grades obtained; Academic and professional curriculum vitae; Identification document.
