More And Better
New Premises for the Academic Services and the Treasury Office
On the 2nd of June last a new space for receiving the public, which houses the Academic Services and the Treasury Office, opened in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL).
On Level 01 of the building common to the Santa Maria Hospital, near to the students’ room, there is a space with a young and attractive design, which intends to meet the real needs of all those who have to go there through providing a personalised and quality service of reception.

In this space you will find the answer to the following needs:
Management of the Academic Course
• Clarification of doubts about the academic course;
• Handing in of request forms (this procedure may be carried out via e-mail to academica@fm.ul.pt);
• Request for special status (e.g. worker-student, competition athlete, student body member, maternity, etc.);
• Validation of student card;
• Requesting and receiving certificates and declarations.
Access and Recognition of Qualifications
• Clarification of doubts about Access to the Medicine Course, degree equivalences and credits;
• Requests for qualification equivalences;
• Applications through special regimes;
• Requests for accreditation;
• Requests for and receiving of certificates of equivalence.
International Cooperation Nucleus
• Clarification of doubts about Portuguese and international mobility programmes;
• Reception of applications for programmes of mobility for FMUL students, teachers and staff;
• Reception of applications for programmes of mobility from students, teachers and staff who wish to come to the FMUL;
• Welcoming foreign students coming to the FMUL.
The same place also houses the Nucleus of Treasuries and Service Providing. This nucleus is made up of two units with the following competences:
a) Payment Unit:
• Making payments;
• Transferring to the state coffers, or to other entities, the monies taken from incomes or rates organised by the Salaries Nucleus;
• Sending of proof of payment of discounted monies in salaries to the respective entities;
• Keeping treasury records up to date (Receipts and Expenses);
• Monthly control of the treasury unit duties.
b) Billing and Collecting Unit:
• Registering the entry of all receipts;
• Billing of services rendered;
• Registering the income, settling it, classifying it and collecting it;
• Handing in a detailed account of the total income collected per month;
• Providing the respective services with the indication of monies coming in;
• Keeping treasury records up to date (Payments and Receipts);
• Issuing of receipts for the Faculty’s own incomes;
• Developing financial mechanisms for collecting income;
• Organizing services rendered to outside entities.
