Work conducted by Paula Ravasco’s team awarded Sociedade de Ciências Médicas (Society of Medical Sciences) Prize
Over the course of nearly ten years, Paula Ravasco and her research team at the Nutrition and Metabolism Unit of the Institute of Molecular Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon monitored a hundred patients with colorectal cancer and analysed the way how, over time, a dedicated nutritional education can help mitigate some effects of the cancer treatments patients have to undergo.
The research conducted by Paula Ravasco has now won the Sociedade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa MSD Prize in Clinical Epidemiology, awarded on 22 January.
Thirteen research works from the major research centres in Portugal applied to the 4th edition of the “Sociedade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa MSD Prize in Clinical Epidemiology” sponsored by the Society of Medical Sciences of Lisbon with the support of the MSD.
The “Sociedade de Ciências Médicas de Lisboa MSD Prize in Clinical Epidemiology” aims to foster research in Health Sciences in Portugal, particularly in the fields of clinical epidemiology. It awards a cash prize in the amount of € 20 000 to the best research work submitted for evaluation by a panel, in accordance with the considerations set in the Prize Regulations.
