September is the month that highlights the Heart. On 29 September, Heart and Cardiovascular Health are celebrated worldwide, so we reinforce the importance of preventing and taking care of the health of our heart.
If we take into account the fact that cardiovascular diseases continue to be the main cause of death in Portugal, being responsible for about 20 million deaths every year, it is essential to share prevention messages and disseminate heart healthy lifestyle habits.
That is what the Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Team of the CHULN/FMUL/CRECUL Programme of the Cardiology Service of the Lisbon Hospital and University did to mark such a special date.
In a sincere and conscious call to listen to what our Heart tells us, the team at the Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Centre passed on prevention messages, alerting to cardiovascular diseases, especially at a time when the world faces an unprecedented health crisis and many medical examinations were not carried out, and when the risk behaviours of many chronic patients were emphasised by the pandemic.
And there were many international initiatives that sought to draw attention to a reality whose transformation depends solely on each one of us, through the adoption of a healthier lifestyle and regular medical monitoring.
Thus, as part of the action initiated by the Word Heart Federation, the team at our Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Centre launched a video, available in Portuguese and English, thinking not only about the largest possible number of patients, but also about all health professionals and the general population.
We know that health is priceless and our most precious asset, so we want you to live in a healthy way, to remain active and aware, because a Healthy Heart is, necessarily, a happier Heart!
Follow the recommendations of the Cardiovascular Rehabilitation Team of the CHULN/FMUL/ CRECUL Programme and give more Love and Health to your Heart!
