In an interview with Visão magazine, Maria Mota, FMUL's Professor and Director of the Institute of Molecular Medicine, shows confidence in the future with a society that gives more credibility to Science.

When questioned about the possibility of a lasting “fame” of scientists who, due to the outbreak of the new coronavirus are on the agenda of the various media, Maria Mota expressed the desire for a society that “starts to believe more in Science and in what this can offer "", adding that more than discovering the solution to a specific problem, the role of Science is "finding solutions to long-term problems".

Maria Mota also spoke of the inevitability of uncertainty, a word so often used in approaching Covid-19. "Dealing with doubt is part of a scientist's daily life. We are comfortable with it and it belongs to the research process. In general, people feel insecure in the face of the unknown, they are afraid. But uncertainty is a way to find the solution to a new problem ", says in the interview that you can read here .
