Biographical note

She graduated in Medicine from the Lisbon School of Medicne (FMUL) in 1997. She is a specialist in Endocrinology and Nutrition, having completed Specific Training at Santa Maria Hospital, Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Norte (CHULN) in 2005. Consultant in Endocrinology and Nutrition since 2015. Completed her PhD in Medicine, specialty Endocrinology, at Lisbon School of Medicine in 2016. She has been a Graduate Hospital Assistant in Endocrinology at CHULN since 2015, Invited Assistant Professor of Endocrinology at FMUL since 2017 and Director of the National Diabetes Program of the Directorate General of Health (DGS) since 2019. 
Coordinator of the Diabetes Consultation of the Endocrinology Service of the CHULN and of the Type 1 Diabetes and Continuous Insulin Subcutaneous Perfusion Consultation of the CHULN (2016- ). She integrates the Functional Coordinating Unit of Diabetes Lisbon North (2016- ). Coordinator of the Diabetes Curriculum Unit of the Master's Degree in Metabolic Diseases and Food Behaviour (DMCA) of the FMUL since 2021. Coordinator of the curricular unit of Exercise and Endocrine and Metabolic Diseases, Master in Exercise and Health, Faculty of Human Motricity/FMUL (2021- ). Member of the Monitoring Committee for the preparation of the National Health Plan 2021-2030. Coordinator of the Working Group for the "Update of the strategy for access to treatment with continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion devices, with a view to equitable use of new generation devices" (2022). Co-coordinating the "Diabetes on the Move" program (2019-).
She was Hospital Assistant of Endocrinology at CHULN (2005-15), Invited Assistant of Cellular Biochemistry (2003-8) and of Endocrinology (2008-17) at FMUL, Visiting Researcher at the "Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behavior (IR3C)/Cognitive Neuroscience Research Group" at the University of Barcelona (2011, 2012), coordinator of the Center for Treatment with Continuous Subcutaneous Insulin Perfusion (2016-19) and the Day Hospital of the Endocrinology Service of CHULN (2016-19), co-coordinator of the Diabetes Curricular Unit of the Master's Degree in DMCA of FMUL (2017-21). 
Supervisor of Integrated Master's Final Papers in Medicine, FMUL, since 2010; supervisor of Master's theses in Metabolic Diseases and Food Behaviour, FMUL, since 2018; supervisor of postgraduate training in Endocrinology for General Interns, Interns in General Medicine, Internal Medicine and Clinical Pathology since 2009 and for Interns in Endocrinology and Nutrition since 2012. Researcher in clinical and clinical-laboratory studies. Coordination of the project "More Health Less Diabetes" (2018- ) and national participation in the Joint Action Care4Diabetes (2023- ).
Author or co-author of oral communications and posters in national and international conferences; more than 35 original scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals; one recommendation and one national consensus article in the area of Diabetes; five book chapters. Co-author of the books "Topics on Diabetes" and "Endocrine Urgencies"; coordinator of the Training Manual on "Children and Youth with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus - to Support Health and Education Professionals"; author of Reports of the "National Diabetes Program - Challenges and Strategies" (2019, 2020, 2021). Reviewer of national and international scientific journals. She has received three scientific awards (Research Award of the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism, SPEDM, 2001; Award of the Rare Diseases Study Group of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine, 2012 and 2013) and two honorable mentions (SPEDM, Clinical Research, 2006 and 2014). She was part of juries for scientific awards of SPEDM and SPD, was external expert of the Foundation for Science and Technology.
