Cristina Sampaio, Professor of Pharmacology at FMUL, commented in the SIC Noticias on the suspension of the AstraZeneca vaccine against covid-19, stating that it was a “premature and hasty” decision.

She also said that vaccines may not only have a preventive effect, but also relieve prolonged symptoms in people who have already been infected with covid-19, stressing that, “in some people, it seems that covid-19 disease has become a chronic disease”.
