In an interview to Diário de Notícias, Válter Fonseca, coordinator of the Technical Commission of the Directorate-General of Health and Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon (FMUL), says that, after five months of the Vaccination Plan against SARS-CoV-2 infection, the balance is extremely positive. Thus, Portugal has reasons to be optimistic, although there is still a lot of information that is not known in relation to the virus. Regarding the approved vaccines, the studies continue and the results could lead to new recommendations.

The Professor says that the vaccine forecast for Portugal is that there will be enough to quickly vaccinate the entire population. Válter Fonseca also reports that vaccines have already shown significant efficacy in reducing symptoms, hospitalizations and mortality.
