It is becoming more and more certain that with the average life expectancy rising, a number of questions arise about how to keep people’s quality of life and health in later life. It is even considered that, in the future, there is the possibility of delaying the ageing of those who become more debilitated as they age.
It was in this sense that Maria do Carmo Fonseca, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, Principal Investigator and President of the iMM, was interviewed by RTP on the Borders XXI programme.
Studies presented by the channel predict that in the next 30 years Portugal will be the most aged country in Europe, and is now one of the most aged in the world.
