The 30th anniversary of GAPIC is the perfect occasion to remember the promotor and mentor of this office, whose mission is to promote scientific research among the FMUL students. We'll talk about Professor David Ferreira e and get acquainted with another side of him, besides the scientist and educator.
The celebration of this 30th anniversary fills us with happiness, but also a certain nostalgia. It's the opportunity to relive and review all the work developed in these 30 years by GAPIC, currently coordinated by Professor Ana Espada de Sousa. To learn “The steps and moments in the path of a GAPIC Alumni” and to listen to the key stakeholders, the students, through the voice of the AEFML (Student Association).
We're congratulating the Institute of Environmental Health - ISAMB and the CCUL - Cardiovascular Centre of the University of Lisbon for the "Very Good" rating obtained in the Assessment of R&D Units - Multi-annual Funding Program by the FCT. We're also commending the iMM - Institute of Molecular Medicine João Lobo Antunes for its classification of “Excellent”.
We also congratulate Professor Mamede de Carvalho, Deputy Director of the FMUL, for his distinction as World Expert in Electromyography by Expertscape.
In this issue of the Newsletter dedicated to science, the Editorial Team talked to Professor Rui Tato Marinho, FMUL doctor and professor, recently appointed President of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology. Interestingly, Professor Rui Tato Marinho also belonged to the GAPIC coordinating team from 2002 to 2009.
This July FMUL was visited by a delegation from the University of Macau, cto strengthen relations between the two institutions and establish future arrangements. It also hosted a number of events, including the 1st edition of the o Nutrition Laboratory Summer School; a ClinMed 2019 – SummerSchool; and the II National Congress of Clinical Communication in Health Care.
Remember that GAPIC is Just a Click Away so don't miss the opportunities we have for you! In September, applications will open for various events: 23rd Programme "Educação pela Ciência", "16th AstraZeneca Foundation Research Grant" and Prémio GAPIC David-Ferreira.
From our side of GAPIC… Proudly, over the last 16 years, we have grown together with and for science, by learning and sharing with colleagues, teachers, researchers and students, a joint effort where the love for our Faculty and the pleasure in our work prevails.
Let's remain united in this path for science, trying to do more and better, because, to paraphrase a friend, "The sun always shines higher and the shade only covers where the sun doesn't reach".
And speaking of sun, happy holidays!
