Profile of Candidates for IFA Advanced Training in the Academic Year 2009/2010
The Advanced Training Institute is starting the 2009-2010 academic year with specialisation courses, 2nd cycle (Masters) and 3rd cycle (PhD).
The candidature period has not yet closed; we have the course in Nutrition with candidatures taking place from the 1st to the 30th of October 2009.
Of the courses for which the candidature period has now closed, we had 213 candidates distributed over the nine available courses, as can be seen in Table 1.
The distribution of the candidates by sex is, like over previous years, mainly made up of females.
In relation to the distribution of the candidates by age groups in the different course (table 2), one can see that the under 25 age group is starting to be relevant in some course, but that the candidates are mainly in the 25 to 30 and 30 to 35 years old age groups.
In relation to the first degrees taken by our candidates, this year there was an increase in graduates in medicine in practically all the course, as can be seen in table 3.
The courses from which most candidates came were: Nursing, with 61 candidates, Medicine, with 56 candidates and finally Psychology, with 13 candidates.
