FES 2009 International Conference
“Financing Higher Education: the current crisis and future prospects”.
The international conference entitled “Financing Higher Education: the current crisis and future prospects” was held in the noble hall of the Chancellery of University of Lisbon on the 12th and 13th of October.
The first day of work was dedicated to the subject “Financing Higher Education from the Institutions’ Viewpoint” and the second day dealt with “Financing Higher Education in the Students’ and Families’ Perspective”.
Over the two days it was possible to attend several talks distributed over six debate panels:
1st Panel – Financing Higher Education: challenges posed by the society of knowledge and constraints resulting from the current crisis
2nd Panel – Models and Forms of Financing Higher Education
3rd Panel – University Autonomy, Public Regulation, Evaluation and Accountability: implications from the point of view of state-imposed financing
4th Panel – The Impact of the Bologna Process on Financing Higher Education
5th Panel – Costs and Instruments of Support for Access to Higher Education
6th Panel – Financing Higher Education and Social Action Policy
The book “Financing Portuguese Higher Education”, by Luísa Cerdeira, was presented at the end of the first day.
