Dr. Helena Lopes da Silva, Physician, Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon, passed away on September 8, at 69 years of age.
Remembrance Ceremony
On September 11, at 7 pm, a ceremony in her honour was held at the João Lobo Antunes Auditorium, in the Egas Moniz Building.
The ceremony was attended by the Presidents of the Republic of Portugal and Cape Verde, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Jorge Carlos Fonseca, among other leading figures.
Born in Cape Verde in 1949, Helena Lopes da Silva graduated in Medicine in Portugal where she worked as a surgeon and university professor. She always remained in close contact with Cape Verde, being a member of its Council of State.
