Editorial Note
Between worlds
The 76th edition of news@FMUL, which visits the world of Neurosciences, brings us several interviews with some of the most noteworthy names in scientific research in Portugal. They are professors, researchers from our institution, and so we went to chat with them.
Hearing our scientists and professors gives us the chance to get to learn more about the universe of scientific research in this country and the way it is interconnected with certain sectors of society. To learn more about what is being done, how it's being done, and, in the opinion of these players, what can be improved.
The interviews with Ana Sebastião, Bruno Miranda, Maria do Carmo Fonseca and Miguel Castanho, give us precisely that, while cluing us in on how they see the world, without leaving out what are often deeply personal experiences. We also use these interviews as a way of raising awareness of our academic community and its research works.
Today, the media has returned to an age-old topic that remains as relevant as ever: the possibility of lessening or even stemming the effects of ageing on human beings. All this because of one of the research projects developed at the Laboratory run by Professor Carmo Fonseca, the touchstone of an interview that brings her together with Bruno de Jesus.
The article Social Cognition and the Laboratory run by Diana Prata focuses on another study we would like you to learn about, which deals with a hormone in our brain that can enhance social relations. The article we have published allows us to find out more about it.
The FMUL's Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office launched SynerGIEs a news cycle focusing on the latest in innovation and entrepreneurship, and News@FMUL keeps abreast of this project while raising everyone's awareness of it.
Happy reading.
