Professor José Melo Cristino distinguished by the Portuguese Society of Microbiology

Professor José Melo Cristino was awarded the Professor Nicolau Van Uden Prize by the Portuguese Society of Microbiology.
Nicolau Van Uden was a doctor and researcher who profoundly influenced the national academic and scientific community and was responsible for the emergence of modern experimental biology in Portugal.
This prize aims to recognize the work conducted by Professor José Melo Cristino, a notable doctor in Microbiology who has figured prominently nationally and internationally and who has played an important role in the guidance of young microbiologists.
A Full Professor of Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon since 2003, Professor José Melo Cristino graduated and obtained his PhD in Medicine (Microbiology and Parasitology) in the same faculty.
Since 2006, he has also been Director of the Clinical Pathology Service of the Northern Lisbon Hospital Centre, E.P.E.
Throughout his career he has published about 160 articles and 280 scientific papers.
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon congratulates Professor Melo Cristino for yet another award.
