The Lisbon Society of Medical Sciences (SCML) and the Pfizer laboratories are beginning receiving applications for the 53rd edition of the Pfizer Prizes.

The Pfizer Prizes consider two scientific areas and distinguish works in the areas of Clinical Research and Basic Research.

The Pfizer Prize for Basic Research distinguishes the best basic research work in Health Sciences, totally or partially carried out in Portuguese institutions, which will receive a prize in the value of 20 thousand Euros.

The Pfizer Prize for Clinical Research is granted to the best research work carried out totally or partially in Portuguese institutions. The value of the prize is also 20 thousand Euros.

Applications for the prizes should be sent by the 15th of September 2009, to the Secretariat of the Pfizer Prizes, at the Lisbon Society of Medical Sciences.
