Project I Choose + | AIMS Meeting 5th Edition
Project I Choose +
The Organizing Committee of the 5th AIMS Meeting
The eight of November was an important milestone in the short yet distinguished history of the AIMS meeting – the anniversary of the project, which is fast approaching its 5th edition. The AIMS Meeting (Annual International Medical Students Meeting) started with the name ENJOY Med (Medical Students Annual Meeting) and since then has grown and created, each year, a renewed space for learning and science interaction and communication, in the form of a medical students congress for their peers.
The Organizing Committee could simply not ignore this date and this led to the emergence of I Choose +, an initiative that offered 100 faculty students the opportunity to attend the event that is considered to be the landmark of the AIMS Meeting – the I Choose Session. In the I Choose +, students participated in the most popular workshops in earlier editions of the AIMS Meeting: Sutures, Heart Sutures, Laparoscopy, Airway Pathway Maintenance, ABC of Paediatric Trauma, and Abdominal Ultrasound. This was only possible thanks to the availability and enthusiasm of the trainers, who are lecturers of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon who have welcomed our ideas and enabled their implementation so as to provide more training opportunities to our colleagues.
Registrations ran out in the first minute after the registration form came live, a fact that deeply honoured the Organizing Committee, but which made it also particularly attentive to the training needs of our colleagues, especially with regard to the acquisition and practice of clinical skills. The event ended with interaction between participants and trainers after the various workshops. The satisfaction of participants was quite evident and was further attested by the evaluation questionnaire, in which participants positively evaluated the organization of the workshops and made suggestions for improvement in future initiatives.
We will continue to work on the 5th edition of the AIMS Meeting, which will be held on 7, 8 and 9 March 2014. Registrations are open and abstracts are invited.
We look forward to seeing you there!
