Professor Jacinto Manuel de Melo Oliveira Monteiro (Director of the Orthopaedics University Clinic of F.M.U.L | Director of the Department of Orthopaedics of C.H.L.N.) was appointed Chairman of the Shoulder and Elbow Committee worldwide by decision of the BoD of SICOT (Société Internacional de Chirugie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie).

SICOT (World Orthopaedic Organization) is the oldest orthopaedic scientific society worldwide, celebrating 85 years of existence this year.

This distinction is a motive for pride and a proof of the recognition enjoyed by Portuguese orthopaedics and the Lisbon Academic Medical Centre.
