Professor António Cruz Serra took over as Rector of the University of Lisbon on 25 July. It is a four-year term at one of the largest higher education establishments in the Iberian Peninsula, with capacity for 50,000 students.The General Council elected the new rector, the only candidate for the post, on 15 July, with 28 votes in favour and four abstentions.
