FMUL in the 2013 Edition of Futurália
For the third consecutive year, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) participated in FUTURÁLIA, which this year was held between 13 and 16 March at FIL - Parque das Nações, with the motto “A fair for all!”
In an organized and collaborative manner, once more FMUL integrated the stand of the University of Lisbon (UL). This year, the structure of the stand was the result of a Fine Arts project that conceptually “embraced” the visitor, inviting him to come in. It worked as an area that aggregated the several academic units it represented: the Faculties of Medicine, Sciences, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Psychology, Law, Humanities, and the Institutes of Education, Geography, and Spatial Planning.
This year, FUTURALIA had more 54,000 visitors than in the previous 5 editions (236,000), of whom 22,000 were part of study visits and 300 were teachers. The entire activity of the event spread over 154 stands, which in total amounted to 433 co-exhibitors.
The entire organization process was more assertive and standardized this year, not only in terms of management and logistics, but also with regard to communication and image of the event itself, which, in an attempt to generate institutional value for the entire UL, managed to create a direct relationship with the materials and the promotional activity among the various units. One such example was the single corporate brochure that was readjusted and produced for this purpose.
The brochure contains comprehensive information about FMUL, including the Integrated Master Degree in Medicine (MIM), the main events, services and activities on offer, and the postgraduate courses available at the Advanced Training Institute (IFA) – PhDs, Masters, Specialization Courses, and Continuing Education Courses.
Once more the presence of FMUL students was quite strong, as they were willing to express their support, share experiences, motivate the public, and answer questions. The constant presence at FMUL’s promotional events is undeniable and a latent desire in all students.
This year FMUL was represented by 12 permanent members of staff and 50 students distributed over four daily shifts. To some extent, this demonstrates the relationship the institution and its services have with the Student Association (AEFML) and how they all share the same goal – to promote their institution with great pride.
More than a duty, it is an obligation to be present when decisions are made, regardless if this is for clarification or guidance purposes. A good decision at the right time in the life path of each youth, combined with the counselling offered by those who are in a position to do so, is often the key element for a successful life and future.
FMUL is committed to do its best to help shape these directions, offering the best tools and top training in the field of health, and providing education to high quality professionals able to embrace all challenges.
Four days packed with questions, answers, conversations, and joy strengthened our commitment to come back next year!
