How did Research Day go?
This first edition of Research Day was assessed very positively by participants, who were satisfied with the overall programme and with the organization.
Research Day was attended by 131 participants, of whom a vast majority were MIM students (76.3%), from year 3 (37%), and who at the time of enrolment expressed greater interest in visiting research units (71%), in attending poster sessions of the projects carried out by students as part of the 15th Programme “Education through Science” (61.8%) and the session on Research Opportunities for AEFML students (61.1%). Of the 131 participants who answered the evaluation questionnaire, 61 people were mostly students (90%), female (59%), and had an average age of 24 years. The main reasons that led them to participate in Research Day were interest in the programme (41%) and interest in scientific research (36.1%), although more than half had never been involved in a research project (55.7%).
As for the day programme and corresponding activities, participants were very satisfied, especially with the visits to the research units (73.2%), the session on Research Opportunities presented by the AEFML (61.9%), and with the session “How do I question myself?” (61.7%).
They were equally very happy with the organization and logistics of the event, particularly with dissemination (47.5%), the secretariat (45.9%) and with audiovisual media (42.6%). According to participants, the quality of the presentations and sessions was the strong point to be emphasized (22.2%), while the weak point was the inability to keep on schedule (52.4%). In general, they share the opinion that this initiative should be repeated in future (96.7%).
