The call for the AstraZeneca Foundation/Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon 9th Research Scholarship was on through September 2012. The objective of the scholarship is to fund a research project in the field of health proposed by a newly graduate in medicine.

Nine applications were submitted, among which the panel decided to award funding in the amount of € 5.000,00 to candidate Rodrigo Costa Nunes de Sousa for his project “Transient tachypnea of the newborn as a predictor of chronic respiratory disease”. The project will be conducted at the Paediatrics University Clinic and at the Paediatric Pulmonology Unit, Paediatrics Department, and Medical Paediatrics Unit of HSM-CHLN.
