Science and Health Research
In this section we continue to divulge online resources, which may be personal web pages, blogs, institutional portals, etc. We shall give preference to those of simple and intuitive use, preferably free of charge. A large part will be dedicated to the medical sciences. In the present edition, we offer some more suggestions, which may also be added to the favourite pages link.

Associação Viver a Ciência
According to the Association’s website, its purpose is to “bring science to the general public (...). Our initiatives take place on-line, in modern art museums, the beach, theaters and bookstores, and even in business galleries.
Whenever possible, we try to link the dissemination of scientific knowledge to other cultural and artistic expressions such as photography, literature, drama and humor.
We believe that scientific knowledge is a powerful tool for understanding the world we live in and which should therefore be shared by all. We want to contribute to building a more democratic society, equipped to critically evaluate the messages that permeate pseudo-scientific publicity and political debate itself, a society that understands and appreciates the beauty of natural phenomena and the relevance of scientific research.”
This page publishes a series of initiatives, publications and events of interest on a regular basis.

Blog On the Path of Naturalists - Botanical Exhibitions in Africa
This blog is a guest of newspaper Público. Here we find a “documentary series that will trace the scientific expeditions conducted in Africa by naturalists at the University of Coimbra.”
“At the end of the 18th Century, in the wake of the Enlightenment, the Crown sponsored a vast and unprecedented scientific enterprise: the “philosophical journeys” to the colonies to study their natural resources. Four naturalists graduated from the University of Coimbra were sent to Brazil, Angola, Mozambique and Cape Verde. These exhibitions will be the main subject of the first of a series of four documentaries the UC will hold.”
This project will be coordinated by, among others, António Carmo Gouveia and Jorge Paiva.
Plataforma DeGóis
Information from the page: “Plataforma DeGóis is a tool for collecting and analysis of intellectual production, scientific and other information of Portuguese Researchers’ curricula. Its main features are the individual management of the curriculum by the user, and research of data from curricula.”
