More And Better
Project 172 wins 4th edition of the SB of the Lisbon City Hall
Project 172 of the University of Lisbon was one of the five winners of the 4th Edition of the Shared Budget of the Lisbon City Hall, with 1672 votes. The award ceremony was held on 7 October in the City Hall.
The UL will, therefore, be able to undertake a major project: The Rehabilitation of the University City Mall (Alameda of Cidade Universitária).
PROJECT 172
Project 172 stemmed from the growing need felt by the UL to liven up a central area in the university and the city. This is how the intention to submit a proposal for the Rehabilitation of Alameda of Cidade Universitária to the Shared Budget of the Lisbon City Hall came up. Every year, the City Hall reserves part of its budget to enable citizens to participate in the selection of projects that are important to the City of Lisbon.
Project 172: “A gateway to the UniverCity: Rehabilitation of the Alameda of Cidade Universitária” is the combination of three proposals submitted and whose focal points for action are: the creation of a garden/more green areas; the establishment of meeting places for the academic community and society in general; putting up a screen to disseminate distinct academic, scientific and cultural events taking place at the university; installing urban furniture and equipment, among others....
This project aims to create a more dynamic Alameda, much more representative of the life and pulse of the University. It was thanks to the help of the entire academic community that the UL achieved this triumph.
We will now begin the next stages of this Project. We very much hope that, very soon, the Alameda of Cidade Universitária will join the true identity of our University, becoming a place for sharing, for knowledge, innovation and dynamism, in harmony with the life of the actual city.
