More And Better
BESup summer internships welcome 29 students of the Faculty of Medicine of Lisbon in 2011
The BESup summer internship programme is an initiative of Bank Espírito Santo that aims to offer university students a real professional experience during the course of their academic training.
The 2011 edition is the 6th of the programme, involving 195 interns from distinct training areas – Health, Economics, Management, Law and Engineering, among others - the internships will take place at several institutions besides Bank Espírito Santo: Hospitals that are part of ES Saúde, AMI, Institute of Molecular Medicine, PT, OPWAY, Locarent, Tranquilidade, ES Viagens, ES Informática, BES Investimento, and renowned law firms, namely Aguiar-Branco & Associados, Amaral Cabral & Associados, Campos Ferreira Sá Carneiro & Associados, Uría Menéndez Proença de Carvalho, and Vieira de Almeida & Associados.
Two types of internships are available to medical students:
- Hospitals that are part of ES Saúde: these internships are paid and take place at Hospital da Luz, Hospital do Mar and Hospital da Arrábida, lasting between 2 weeks to a month. The internships will cover several medical specialities, according to the characteristics of the hospitals, and will be supervised by tutors.
- International Cooperation BES/AMI: these internships are organised in partnership with AMI and Medical, Nursing and Nutrition students participate in international missions. They last 2 months and will take place at Missions in Brazil (State of Ceará), Guinea-Bissau and São Tomé and Príncipe. BES covers the costs (e.g. travelling, visas, insurance and food at the missions), and the internships are not paid.
Since their first edition, the BESup Summer Internships have been strongly supported by students of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon. In 2011, 29 Faculty students will carry out their internships, of whom 23 at the Hospital da Luz, 3 at AMI missions and 3 at Hospital da Arrábida, and this accounts for about half of the total number of internships in medicine.
