Editorial Note
This edition of the Newsletter comes with the arrival of the longest and warmest days of the year. It is an issue filled with articles and news which, on the one hand, disclose our work and activities at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (Research and Advanced Education, Science Area, latest information on the Food Bank Campaign on 29 May, or the latest Blood Collection Campaign at FMUL, for example), and, on the other, as part of the scope of the University of Lisbon, enable us to know a little more about what has been happening: Environment Day Celebrations, Interview with the Director of the Sports, Culture and Well-Being Centre of the University of Lisbon, Dr. Luís Fernandes (most of us are unaware of it, but this centre carries out remarkable activities in the fields of sports, leisure and culture that everyone could benefit from, with huge personal advantages as well as to the community).
As we have been doing to raise awareness of FMUL, in this issue we offer you an interview with the Director of the Institute of Preventive Medicine, Professor Pereira Miguel. You will have the opportunity to know about not just the Institute’s main activities, but also much of the history of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon.
On 29 June, student Francisco Goiana Godinho da Silva took office in his new role as President of the Students Association of FMUL. The Team wishes him all the best in the carrying out of his duties.
We end this note reiterating our wish that you identify with what is published in the Newsletter, and that you do not forget that, as a vehicle for institutional communication, we will always be open and receptive to your views and involvement.
