Within the scope of the festivities of the Portuguese popular saints, which take place during the month of June throughout the whole country, the Association of Workers of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Lisbon (FMDUL) organized a Great Festival on the 18th of June for the whole of the University of Lisbon (UL) community.

Everything was made ready for fun and good times to be requirements for one to join the party. From the carnival hoop throwing stall to the mechanical bucking bronco as fun rides, as well as the grilled sardines and pork on the spit as the dish of the day, everything was set up to receive anyone who wanted to join in.

This initiative by the FMDUL was added to by the University of Lisbon Joint Services (SPUL) in the organization of the bazaar and the sweets stalls in order to aid the CRINABEL Institution (Cooperative for Social Solidarity and Special Education CRL) through the funds raised. In this kiosk one could also buy some articles made by the children from this institution (key-rings, t-shirts, canvases, etc).

Despite the wind that blew up, which did not provide a warm evening of Midsummer’s Night, the evening was very lively due to the popular music played, and some people even put their best foot forward in dance.

In this party, besides the staff from the dentistry faculty, support staff members from other faculties were also present in order to bring their contribution, among whom were the secretaries from Medicine, Letters, Fine Arts and Dentistry.

At the end of the evening the aim of helping CRINABEL was achieved, with €317 (three hundred and seventeen Euros) raised to bring a smile to those children.

We now await the organization of further initiatives like this, not only to help those who most need it, but also so that the UL is more and more a single identity for all those who collaborate within it!
