The Manual sobre Sida, now available online for the 6th edition, published by Francisco Antunes and Fernando Maltez, from the Instituto de Saúde Ambiental da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa (Environmental Health Institute of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon), and foreword by Ana Paula Martins and Maria de Belém Roseira, is dedicated to all those interested in the various aspects related to HIV infection and AIDS, especially health professionals who are on the front line in the prevention and treatment of people living with HIV infection.
It is the only book dedicated to HIV infection in Portuguese language released in Portugal, and this online edition allows its access to all Portuguese speakers, mainly from African countries, but also from Timor, Macau and Brazil.
This Manual involved the collaboration of 22 specialists, from virology, immunology and epidemiology to clinical aspects (prevention and treatment).
We hope this edition of Manual sobre Sida will meet the expectations of all those involved in the fight against HIV infection and AIDS.
