V Young European Scientist Meeting – Applications Open, until 30th June!
From the 24th to the 26th of September in Oporto
Applications are open for the fifth edition of the Young European Scientist Meeting (YES Meeting). This year the event is taking place on the 24th, 25th and 26th of September, and will be divided between the premises of the faculty of Medicine of the University of Oporto (FMUP) and the Engenheiro António de Almeida Foundation.
This event is organized by students at the FMUP and research enthusiasts and its public is all the “undergraduate scientists” who are interested in Biomedicine, with students from other associated fields being invited to participate.
Over the three days that this event which every year brings hundreds of researchers from all over the world to Oporto there will be debate over the greatest scientific news about “Stem Cells”, “Chronic pain”, “Human Evolutionary Medicine”, “Ischemic Coronary Illness” and “Oncological Therapy”. The guest speakers for the symposia and workshops are well-known names from the Portuguese and international field. The presence of Aaron Ciechanover, winner of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 2004, has been confirmed.
The young scientists who are carrying out research here have a unique opportunity to present their works to an international audience, subjecting them for appreciation by a jury made up of top level scientists. The prizes to be awarded to the best works in each area go from 250 to a thousand Euros. Students interested in participating should apply by the 30th of June should they wish to present their research works, or by the 1st of September if they prefer to attend the symposia, workshops, presentations and social activities without submitting scientific works. The works presented should be in the field of Neurosciences, Immunology, Physiology or Clinical Oncology and Molecular Biology.
The YES Meeting also includes an attractive social programme, which will allow the participants to create contact networks with colleagues from other countries, to socialise and get to know the city of Oporto and Vila Nova de Gaia in the company of their peers.
