Since 2018, in the context of the most important European meetings on HIV and AIDS, a book has been published, in partnership with Merck Sharp & Dohme, currently in digital format (eBook). The book contains the most relevant works regarding the advances in the field and knowledge in all areas on this pandemic, which, despite about 40 years after the first AIDS cases in the United States of America became known, has no cure or vaccine yet. In these HIGHLIGHTS, all the works presented by Portuguese researchers are also shown, so that the contribution that our country has made to the progress in the knowledge of this disease is known. HIV continues to have a relevant impact on the morbidity and mortality related to infectious diseases, along with tuberculosis, hepatitis, malaria and, now, COVID-19. This and the two previous HIGHLIGHTS, HIV Drug Therapy Glasgow 2018 and HIV 17th European AIDS Conference 2019 can be accessed at the website www.vihda.pt. HIGHLIGHTS HIV may be of interest to all those who were unable to attend these meetings and who want to know the latest advances in HIV infection and associated and non-associated comorbidities.
