Biographical note

Manuel António de Azevedo Matos Garrido graduated in Medicine (1997), and got his PhD (2022) at Lisbon School of Medicine (FMUL). He finished the specialty of Clinical Pathology in 2004 at Santa Maria Hospital. He has been teaching at FMUL, in the area of Laboratory Medicine, since 2000, and is currently Assistant Professor and Regent of this disciplinary area. He also serves as a Graduate Assistant of Clinical Pathology at Centro Hospitalar Universitário Lisboa Central (CHULC), in the area of Clinical Chemistry, where he is the Medical Responsible for the Immunochemistry sector (tumor markers and endocrinology) of the Clinical Pathology Service and the Coordinator of the Interns of this Specialty. He has focused his research work on laboratory oncology, especially in the study of biomarkers in prostate cancer. In this context, he did an internship at the Institut für Laboratoriumsmedizin of the Deutsches Herzzentrum in Munich (Germany), where he developed part of his research work. He has been a speaker at national and international congresses and conferences. He is the author of several scientific articles published in indexed journals.
