World Day for Safety and Health at Work was celebrated on 28 April.

This day is commemorated in Portugal and in the world as a tribute to all victims of accidents at work and occupational diseases. This date has been celebrated worldwide since 1996. In Portugal, 28 April was established as the National Day for Safety and Health at Work through resolution No. 44/2001.

This year focuses on addressing strategies to strengthen national occupational health and safety (OHS) systems for building resilience, in order to face crises now and in the future, based on lessons learned and experiences in the world of work.

This date is also an integral part of the Global Strategy on Occupational Safety and Health of the ILO (International Labour Organization).
