"Little kings" of FMUL visit the Science and Natural History Museum
With smiles on their lips and wearing crowns like real kings, the "little kings of FMUL", the children of the Faculty staff, on 7 January visited the Science and Natural History National Museum of the University of Lisbon (MUHNAC).
The FMUL celebrated the Three Kings’ Day with its usual lunch shared among employees, but since the holiday season is especially significant for children, FMUL, with the involvement of the Faculty to Help and with the support of the Board, provided an interaction occasion for the children of its members of staff with activities at the MUHNAC.
All the children participated in the activity "Planetarium: Sun King and the Planets", which aroused great curiosity. Later on, the youngest children between the ages of 4 and 7 participated in the "In the Animal Kingdom" activity, while the older ones between 8 and 12 years of age, participated in the activity "Fossils for All". Besides enabling the acquisition of interesting knowledge, the activities allowed it to be used on a hands-on basis, which all accepted with great enthusiasm.
The children were invited to bring a toy to be donated to the Department of Paediatrics of the Santa Maria Hospital/Association for the Children of Santa Maria, and the amount of toys exceeded our expectations!
On 12 January some of the members of the Faculty to Help team took the toys to the hospitalized children, who, as a form of thanks, offered the FMUL a beautiful postcard. We made these children smile and we came away with a full heart!
We thank very much the MUHNAC staff who so kindly welcomed us!
