“At first it's simple, you always walk alone”, begins the chant that acts as a motto whenever someone dares to say that something marks the beginning of a life stage.
A phrase that is in our memory, but which every time we start something always seems new to us.
For an approximate total of 400 new students, 4 October was the first day of the start of a multiple path. A path with so many options, fears and doubts. The day when, from certainty to certainty, one begins to feel the first uncertainties and then we know we are entering another first day of a new cycle.
It is curious to conclude now as I write this that the first day can be, precisely, the beginning of the end of something. I don't know if the idea brings beauty with it, or just the evidence that all challenges face cycles.
This month we remember these cycles. It is a famous month that some call pink, in honour of all those women who carry in their bodies, or in their memories, the remembrance of what it is to have breast cancer. The iMM and the former Laço joined hands and created a joint action, the iMM Laço HUB.
The window is in the same place, but the fact is, it's not even the same. Only the landscape was left of our gatherings, as the birds also flew from here. Have they followed the path of the Professor, accompanying him on his new journey? Made up of stories, we talk about the first day of his farewell. The farewell to clinical practice and the Neurology team by Professor José Ferro.
Leaving means the beginning of a journey whose end is what the eye can see, or perhaps only the imagination, but which can take a long way, or no way at all. A path that deserves to be dignified is what we are talking about when we talk this month about Palliative Care and its coordinator, Professor Rui Tato Marinho.
Prematurity and development in the neonatal area is the theme that touches on the antipodes of the latter. Because after all, the day you start life is always the first day.
We keep small and take a jump to the Hospital that is made by them and where grown-ups play with little ones and the little ones are doctors. Confused? Another Edition of the Hospital for the Little Ones is here.
A child psychiatrist in Santa Maria, Carolina Costa works with children and decodes the secrets that mental health does not reveal to everyone linearly.
A project made by more senior people, but full of dreams from when they were little ones, the new AIMS team presents itself renewed and ready for a new concept and the beginning of another first day of the biggest European meeting in Biomedicine.
We ended up appealing to your inspiration, so that it inspires every one’s will.
How many arguments would it take to start life from scratch, after having already flown high? Let me introduce Tiago Constantino, as he decided to rewrite his first day of full realization.
Could we rewrite our lives in a single moment? How could we see ourselves mirrored, in one place, at the beginning of something that tells our story, our first day of a cycle? His name is OSIR and gave one of the main walls of Santa Maria the glow of mirrors, giving everyone the chance to see the first day of their lives.
The first day.
