12-Hour Simulation-Based Bronchoscopy Course
Performing Flexible Bronchoscopy is a crucial skill in approaching critically ill patients.
Training in bronchoscopy at a simulation center shortens the time to acquire this skill and helps reduce complications associated with performing this technique.
This B-learning course combines online theoretical content with simulation on a high-fidelity simulator (EndoVR) and on bronchoscopes with anatomical models.
Upon completion of this course, the participant will have proficiency in navigating the bronchial tree, planning a bronchoscopy, and resolving complications.
This course is an essential complement to internships in Bronchology Units and will contribute to a safer performance of bronchoscopy in critically ill patients.
It will include an extra hour of individual gym training in bronchoscopy.
Objectives
- Acquire the space knowledge of airways and its relationship with x-ray and chest CT abnormalities, demonstrating it during 8 simulated exams.
- Enhance competence in operating a bronchoscope, decreasing in 50% the contact with bronchial walls during the course
- Establish the plan for bronchoscopy according to a specific clinical problem.
Target Students
Eligible candidates are those with a degree or legal equivalent in Medicine; Doctors who have completed their medical internship in Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesiology and Pulmonology prior to doing their internship in Bronchology Units; Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesiology or Pulmonology physicians with little experience in bronchoscopy but who may have to perform bronchoscopic examinations on critically ill patients.
