Biographical note

Thomas Hanscheid is a physician and professor of Microbiology at the Microbiology Institute. He worked at the Laboratory of Clinical Microbiology of the Hospital de Santa Maria until 2010. He studied medicine in Germany and worked for 8 years in the field of internal medicine and infectious diseases in London. In 1999 he came to Portugal where he specialized in Clinical Pathology. Since 2001 he has been a professor at FMUL. He received the Pedagogical Merit Award Professor João Gomes Pedro in 2022. He has several international collaborations in Africa and South America.
He is the author of a hundred articles with more than 3000 citations (h-index: 32).
