Ulisboa initiates a tests programme to covid-19 to all its elements, with the coordination of FMUL

Lisbon University started a programme to test all its members, employees, teachers, students, researchers and other collaborators. In a single campaign in which all the Schools of Ulisboa cooperate, the coordination is in charge of  FMUL, in close collaboration with the Rectory, University Stadium, Faculties of Pharmacy and Sciences (FFUL / FCUL) and Technical (IST), as well like CHULN.

The swabs made by swabs are under the responsibility of an external company, and blood samples are taken by 6th-grade FMUL students, supervised by an internal cardiology doctor.

Fausto J. Pinto, Dean of the Lisbon School of Medicine, could not fail to be present and give a word of encouragement and presented himself punctually at the opening of the tests, even as a way of “setting an example”, as he mentioned.

It is important, however, to reinforce some roles of people directly involved in this great Programme, which are: Melo Cristino (FMUL, who assumes scientific coordination), Prof. Mário Ramirez (FMUL), Prof. Ruy Ribeiro (FMUL), Profª. Maria Mota (FMUL / iMM), Prof. João Barreiros (Vice-Rector), Prof. João Gonçalves (FFUL), Prof. Gabriel Monteiro (IST), as well as Prof Ricardo Dias (FCUL) and Prof. José Roquete (University Stadium).

Diagnostic swab tests will be performed in several alternating locations: iMM / FMUL, CHULN, FFUL, FCUL and IST. It should also be emphasized that serological tests will still be carried out at iMM / FMUL, counting on the tireless support of the Students Association of the Lisbon School of Medicine (AEFML).

The FMUL Communication team will follow up on these works, giving further developments in their newsletter at the end of this month.

To all hands on, and our sincere congratulations on yet another broad and pioneering initiative!
