- Hospital for the Little Ones 29th edition
Imagine if Santa Maria Hospital were invaded by some of animals from the Zoo. And imagine that going to Hospital for a Paediatrics appointment, or to the Emergency Room, would be as joyful as going on a safari. What if after the consultation, instead of the usual medication or an injection, the prescription was two kisses?
Then you must know that everything is possible and that it happens. Another edition of the Hospital for the Little Ones took place in October, this year held at the Maria Pia Education and Development Centre.
The aim of medical students is to break down the barriers of fear of the little ones and show that going to the doctor can be fun and bring great benefits. Aimed at children aged between 3 and 7, everything is on their scale, the dentist's chair, medical supplies, many of them made of plastic. Even the walls are filled with colour, depicting various animals.
Fausto Pinto, Director of the Faculty of Medicine, was present and celebrated with the team of AEFML students and its President, João Martins, this solidarity initiative that brings health closer to common people, in particular to mini doctors, for one day.
