Despite the Covid-19 pandemic being at the top of the priorities of our system and health professionals, it is important not to forget the various pathologies that continue to affect the Portuguese, namely, colon cancer, one of the most prevalent cancers in our population . In this sense, Professor Rui Tato Marinho, as President of the Portuguese Society of Gastroenterology, was live on TVI's Diário da Manhã, where he publicly expressed his concern regarding the temporary interruption of colon cancer screening, following Covid -19.

At this moment, priority is given to the most serious cases in which there is bleeding, intestinal dysfunction and, of course, confirmed cancer situations. Rui Tato Marinho appealed to the confidence of the Portuguese and pointed out that surgeries are not being canceled for patients with colon cancer, keeping the consultations by video call.
