The GAPIC (Support Office for Scientific and Technological Research and Innovation) promotes several competitions every year, in order to arouse and stimulate interest in research among students and young doctors.
- 22nd "Science Education" Program - Research Projects for Students
For the 22nd consecutive year, the "Science Education" Program provides medical students the opportunity to participate directly in the design and implementation of laboratory or clinical research projects in one of the CAML units (FMUL/IMM/HSM), within a research team and accompanied by a tutor.
In the 2014/2015 academic year, the CHLN/FMUL Scholarships were created to reinforce this program, supporting 3 projects with an exclusive or predominant clinical component, to be developed in CHLN Clinics or Laboratories.

- David Ferreira GAPIC Award (3rd edition)
The David Ferreira GAPIC Award aims to distinguish the best Final Works / MIM Theses at the FMUL and, in this way, to stimulate the practice of scientific research among pre-graduate students.
Students with Final Works / MIM Theses approved in the 2017/2018 academic year can apply.

- Astrazeneca Foundation / FMUL Research Grant
The FMUL and the AstraZeneca Foundation have created an Annual Research Scholarship for Doctors graduated in the last 5 years (at the time of application), in order to finance a research project in the health area.
