On 10 July, Professor Francisco Antunes, from the Institute of Environmental Health, was a member of the jury of doctoral dissertations at the University of La Rioja, the Centre for Biomedical Research of La Rioja (CIBIR) and the Department of Infectious Diseases (Logroño, La Rioja) in Spain, in the defence of the thesis entitled "Effects of different antiretroviral treatments on gut microbiota of HIV-infected patients", focusing on intestinal microbiota, bacterial translocation, immune activation and inflammation in HIV-infected patients and the impact that antiretroviral therapy has on the constitution of the microbiota.

Given the interest of the subject, the thesis book is available for consultation at the Central Library of the Faculty of Medicine.
