A collaboration protocol was signed between Lisbon City Council (CML) and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), on July 19. The objective of this protocol is to foster collaboration between CML and FMUL in improving the eating habits and nutritional status of Lisbon's school-aged population.
As a result of the establishment of a project team for the quality of school food created by CML, whose mission is the development of a Healthy School Meals Programme, preparing the implementation of the measures contained in the 2017-2021 Plan's Major Options, a partnership was signed with the Faculty of Medicine. As part of this collaboration, the two institutions will collaborate in developing and validating contents related to the elaboration of the Municipal Programme of Healthy School Meals, in divulging and disseminating materials referring to the topics of food and nutrition in school, in carrying out joint activities geared to improving the food supply in schools, as well as to carrying out training activities for the educational community.
The Protocol was signed by Professor Catarina Sousa Guerreiro, Coordinator of the Degree in Nutrition Sciences of FMUL, representing the Director of the Faculty, and the City Council of Lisbon by Dr. Ricardo Robles, the Councillor who heads Education and Social Rights.
Those responsible for the monitoring, execution and evaluation of this Protocol are, at FMUL, Professor Joana Sousa, Professor at the Nutrition Laboratory and at CML, Eng. Ricardo Moreira, Coordinator of the Project Team for Quality of School Food.
