Presentation João Lobo Antunes Fund

"The Institute of Molecular Medicine (iMM), founded in 2004, has been playing a unique role in Portuguese science. Based on the vision of João Lobo Antunes to cultivate the exchange of ideas between those who produce knowledge and those who practice medicine on the campus of the largest university hospital in the country, the iMM quickly became the benchmark institution for national biomedical research.
The vulnerabilities of the current science funding system make it crucial to involve society as a whole in a commitment to the best research developed in the iMM, within the scope of clinical practice and medical teaching. To that end, the João Lobo Antunes Fund has been created with the aim of attracting and retaining better and brighter scientists in Portugal, supported by the excellent infrastructures of the iMM, competitive at the highest international level and focused on improving human health. This is the mission of the Fund - to continue expanding the remarkable legacy of João Lobo Antunes".
