ULisboa is the top one Iberian university in the Leiden Ranking, based on the scientific production and publications of 938 universities in 55 countries, between 2013 and 2016, including citations made in 2017.

ULisboa is also top one in the eight indicators of the U-Multirank 2018. The U-Multirank is sponsored by the European University Association (EUA) and managed by a consortium led by the Center for Higher Education of Germany (CHE) and the Center for Higher Education Policy Studies of the Netherlands (CHEPS).

The rankings achieved by ULisboa in 2018 are particularly favourable in the areas of Research and Education and Learning. ULisboa is top one in eight indicators.
