Research Integration Grants Awarded to FMUL Students
The Research Integration Grants (BII), awarded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), aim at stimulating the beginning of scientific activity and a development of a critical sense, creativity and autonomy of students in the 1st Cycle of Higher Education, through their integration into project teams for Research and Development.
At the end of 2008, the opening of a competition for the 12th “Education through Science” Programme, scientific research projects for students at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL), alongside the competition for the FCT Research Grants, stimulated the adhesion and participation of our students in research projects.
Out of the 53 students on the 12th “Education through Science” Programme, 22 applied for a BII, with 19 of them being successful.
Besides the students on the “Education through Science” Programme, seven further students received grants from a competition organized by the Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM).
Thus a total of 26 BII were awarded to FMUL students, promoting scientific research on the undergraduate level.
