Portuguese scientists identify new molecular interactions that explain cognitive deficit in Parkinson's disease

A team consisting of researchers from the Institute of Molecular Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (Luísa Lopes), the New University of Lisbon and the University of Göttingen (Tiago Outeiro), Germany, after identifying a mechanism responsible for memory failures associated with Parkinson's disease, have discovered a caffeine-like drug that blocks these memory failures.
