The 15th Biomedical Engineering Meeting took place in the Aula Magna of the FMUL on 11 October.
The theme of this year's Meeting was the technological challenges for new therapeutic and diagnostic approaches. About 70 people were present, including students and lecturers from the two institutions, the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon (FMUL) and the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST).
The Meeting started with the lesson entitled Recognizing Clinically Valuable Signals in Electronic Health Data by Professor Stan N. Finkelstein, MIT Institute for Data, Systems and Society and Harvard Medical School. In the second part, a technical workshop focusing on technological advances for new therapeutic approaches, challenges and legal implications was conducted by Professors Henrique Luz Rodrigues, Hélder Mota Filipe and Sofia Corte Real.
After the presentations, there was a debate moderated by the students of the Nucleus of Biomedical Engineering involving students and lecturers.
