Keep In Mind
João Lobo Antunes Prize - 1st Edition

size="20"
The João Lobo Antunes Prize was created by Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Lisboa in recognition of the physician's excellence and humanism.
The Neurosurgeon, Scientist and Professor of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Lisbon is considered one of the most outstanding individuals in history in the fields of health, science and biomedical research in Portugal.
This prize, worth forty thousand euros, will be awarded annually and is intended for graduates in medicine undergoing their residency, aiming to stimulate scientific culture and clinical research in the area of neurosciences, without forgetting the principles of João Lobo Antunes with regard to the humanization of the medical act - "his patients and their histories".
[su_quote cite="João Lobo Antunes, in Ouvir com Outros Olhos, Gradiva, 2015"]I do not know what awaits us, but I know what worries me: it is that medicine, enraptured by science, seduced by technology and stunned by bureaucracy, erases its human face and ignores the unique individuality of every person who suffers, because, although more and more ways of treating are invested in, we have not yet discovered how to relieve suffering without empathy or compassion.[/su_quote]
