Professor Fausto Pinto appointed president of the European Cardiology Society

The choice of a Portuguese, or even Iberian, candidate for the highest post in the ECS is unprecedented.
During the Annual Congress of the General Assembly of the ECS Professor Fausto Pinto's programme, which was up against Professor David Wood's of the Imperial College of London, was elected. This appointment has undoubtedly been made in recognition of Professor Fausto Pinto's extraordinary scientific and academic career in the area of cardiology and is a distinction for both Portuguese medicine and the country's academic community.
Professor Fausto Pinto graduated with a degree in Medicine in Lisbon. He is currently the President of the Association for Research and Development of the Faculty of Medicine and Clinical Director of Lisbon Cardiovascular Institute, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of international scientific journals. He has published around 200 papers and participated in over 1 000 cardiovascular conferences and similar renowned events.
